KEITH URBAN HAS A SLIPPED DISC IN HIS BACK

UNDATED (AP) -- Keith Urban hurt his back, but the injury isn't keeping him down. CMT reports Urban has been diagnosed with a slipped disc in his back. His publicist isn't elaborating on the cause or severity of the injury. But the slipped disc apparently won't affect Urban's performance schedule. The publicist tells CMT that Urban is scheduled to travel to Canada to headline Saturday's Country Rocks Festival in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

MELISSA LAWSON BACK IN THE CHAOS OF FAMILY

UNDATED (AP) -- "Nashville Star" winner Melissa Lawson continues to try to juggle newfound fame and family. She jokes the song "Back to life, Back to reality" keeps playing in her head. She writes on her MySpace page that her one-year-old son has a cold, her husband is down with a flu bug and her laundry is piled up. She says, "I have to admit, there has been a bit of a learning curve in meshing the celebrity world with my family world."

AFTER 50 YEARS, KENNY ROGERS IS STILL EXCITED TO BE HAVING HITS

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- He's been in the music business for five decades, but Kenny Rogers can't help but hope the best is yet to come. He says "the whole goal is to stay relevant as long as I can." Rogers released a new CD, "Kenny Rogers: 50 Years," Tuesday through the Cracker Barrel restaurants label. The 12-track CD is a career retrospective. It includes most of his hits, plus three new songs. Rogers says, "It's one thing to still be doing it, but to still have your records played on the radio and to have contemporary success, that's what's exciting." Rogers is working on new material for an album on Capitol Records Nashville.

TRISHA YEARWOOD CAN NOW BE HEARD AT GEORGIA VISITOR CENTERS

ATLANTA (AP) -- Travelers stopping at Georgia's visitor information centers may hear Trisha Yearwood, Luke Bryan, Bill Anderson and Ray Charles. That's because the Georgia Department of Economic Development has begun piping songs by Georgia musicians over newly installed speakers outside rest stops.

SARA EVANS SINGLE FROM BILLY GRAHAM FILM SOUNDTRACK HITS RADIO NEXT MONTH

UNDATED (AP) -- The song Sara Evans sings on the soundtrack of the upcoming Billy Graham movie hits radio next month. The song is called "Low." The soundtrack for the movie "Billy: The Early Years" also features performances by Brooks and Dunn, Alan Jackson, Josh Turner, Brad Paisley, and more. The album is slated for release October 7th. The film opens in theaters nationwide October 10th.

MARTY STUART TO LAUNCH COUNTRY MUSIC TV SHOW

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Marty Stuart is launching his own country music TV show. "The Marty Stuart Show" will begin airing this November on the RFD-TV cable network. Each episode will feature music by Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives, as well as his wife, Grand Ole Opry star Connie Smith, and special guests. Stuart will host and produce the 30-minute episodes. Grand Ole Opry announcer Eddie Stubbs will be his sidekick. Stuart says he wants the show to give a voice and stage to traditional country music.

KARA DIOGUARDI REPORTS TO WORK AS JUDGE NUMBER FOUR ON `AMERICAN IDOL'

NEW YORK (AP) -- Simon Cowell likens his relationship to Paula and Randy to "having dinner with three people for seven years, and getting quite bored of each other." So, he says he's really looking forward to adding a fourth person to the judges' table. Kara DioGuardi's first day on the job was yesterday. She joined Simon, Randy and Paula in Manhattan for a round of season-eight auditions. Simon says she brings a new opinion to the show, adding, "I think it's gonna be interesting."

JEWEL COMING OUT WITH DOUBLE-DISC CONCERT DVD

PORT WASHINGTON, New York (AP) -- Jewel is coming out with a double-disc concert DVD. "Jewel: The Essential Live Songbook" features 47 songs. The footage was taken at two Jewel concerts. The DVD hits stores September 30th. It comes out on Blu-Ray October 14th. On the second disc, Jewel is accompanied by a live chamber orchestra, on some of the songs.
